The Website
This is my private homepage where I present some of the stuff I did or I am interested in. Nothing here is of any commercial interest whatsoever.
For the technically interested, this site is created using a small self-written Perl script. My old site was a hassle to maintain with regard to make all sites look alike. The ideal solution definitly is some XML/XSLT based mechanism but I don't have the time to dig into this. So I wrote this little template-based script to ensure a consistent look. It is available for download here: Webbuild Script.
The layout of this site is based upon CSS solely. No tables and such things are used. It has the advantage of beeing exchangeable very easily (using another stylesheet) and is even usable with Lynx. ;-) A good (and impressive) resource site for CSS based design is http://www.csszengarden.com.
And yes, this site conforms to the W3C XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS standards.
The Guy
My real name is, as you can see in the footer, Thomas Heßling. Until recently I was a physics student at the University of Technology Darmstadt and finished my diploma thesis in October '05. Currently I work on my PhD thesis in the same research group, the Plasma Phyics Group at GSI Darmstadt.
